Tell us about your most memorable specific tourism experience in a rural or town setting within the County of Brant. This includes the villages of Burford, Oakland, Scotland, St. George, Mt. Pleasant and the town of Paris. This experience must have taken place between August 2010 and September 2011.

MY Best Aboriginal Tourism Experience

Tell us about your most memorable specific aboriginal tourism experience on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, or New Credit of the Mississauga First Nations communities. This experience must have taken place between August 2010 and September 2011.

MY Best Dining Experience

Tell us about your most memorable dining experience in and around Brantford, the County of Brant or on Six Nations of the Grand River, or New Credit of the Mississauga First Nation. This includes any experience at a family, casual or fine dining restaurant or food-related event in any of the above areas. This experience must have taken place between August 2010 and September 2011.

Answer the following questions in the nomination form being sure to keep your word count within the maximum allotted.

  • Where did the experience take place? (Name the business, organization or event and location)
  • Day, month, year of experience
  • Describe the experience in 100 words or less and highlight what happened to make it so special

Rules and Regulations:

  • Eligibility: The Exceptional Experiences contest is open to any individual, except for employees of the Corporation of the City of Brantford, County of Brant, Six Nations and New Credit.
  • The contest runs from June, 2011 through September, 2011. Entries must be received by the nomination closing date of September 23, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. The City of Brantford is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, delayed, misdirected, unintelligible, illegible, incomplete, undeliverable, or entries not received due to technical or other difficulties.
  • There is no limit to the number of entries per person and point form submissions are acceptable.
  • Entries are accepted only through the online contest page on www.ShiningStarsAwards.ca website.
  • By indicating on the nomination submission form that the contestant has read the contest rules, the contestant grants the sponsors the unrestricted and exclusive rights to use the submission for any purpose. This includes, but is not limited to, publishing the submission in print or electronic form for promotional purposes without compensation, and the right to use the contestant’s name as a credit along with the submission. The contestant must own all rights to any submission entered in this awards program. It is the responsibility of the contestant to ensure that publication of the submission raises no legal claims. Accordingly, the contestant hereby agrees to compensate the City of Brantford fully regarding any claims arising out of the use of the contestant’s submission.
  • The winning submission will be drawn late September, 2011 by a “blind judging” panel. The decisions of the judge are final.
  • By acknowledging the official contest rules and by submitting an entry, the contestant consents to entry of his or her submission and agrees to these official rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all matters.
  • BDO Dunwoody LLP has the right to remove or move a submission that does not fit the category.

Winners will be announced at the Shining Stars Tourism Awards to be held at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts on October 13, 2011.
